The 2009 Mid-West pin swap was another great time for pin traders to gather, swap pins and tall tales. Those who arrived early were able to play cards and Gans dice game in the hospitality room, while some of the more adventurous went to the nearby casinos. Thursday, trading got serious with 72 registered pin traders and 30 spouses using a total of 119 tables. Many of those in attendance were able to get some of those 2009 pins such as South Dakota and Alaska that were not available at other pins swaps. The 5M Pin Traders also had a very nice set available. This year the Mid-West swap was hosted by the Iowa Lions Pin Traders Club. The Thursday and Friday silent auctions were a success, as was the Friday night auction which brought in around $2,400; ten percent of which went to the Iowa Lions Foundation. Hospitality, as always when hosted by the wives of the Iowa pin traders was great. The Pork chops were outstanding. Lucille as usual ran a great card game. All in all a good swap that you should attend next year. The facilities are better than most.
