Past Council Chair George joined Lionism in 1981 when he became a charter member of the Independence Lions Club and served as charter president, earned the 100% President’s Award and has maintained perfect attendance. He has been honored by being named to the Kentucky Lions Hall of Fame, a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Progressive Finis Davis Fellow and Silver Eye Patron of the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation. From Lions International he has been honored by being named the recipient of the Presidential Medal, Leadership Medal, 100% District Governor and five International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He also has attended twenty-three International Conventions, three USA/Canada Forums, thirty six district conventions and thirty-three state conventions.
He and his wife, PDG Charyn, have made many friends through Lionism and are proud to say many of them are members of the LITPC and both greatly enjoy going to pin swaps and seeing many of these friends. He attended his first International Convention in 1985, caught the bug and joined the LITPC in 1988. Elected as a director for a two year term 2017-2019 on the LITPC board.
On the personal side he was employed by the Kenton County Board of Education for forty-six and one-half years as a teacher, bus driver, state certified bus instructor, coach and administrator.
They are avid University of Kentucky fans (Go KATS!!!!) and are members of Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. They have six children, fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
