Lots to Do At LITPC Alternate Site Meeting

For additional information contact: Lion Bob Van Ark, PDG. Phone: 573-635-5984

Of course we will trade pins, renew friendships and enjoy great fellowship at the LIPTC Alternate Meeting Site in Jefferson City, Missouri, at the Truman Hotel. But there are a host of additional things to enjoy, both in Jefferson City and nearby. The meet is scheduled from the evening of Wednesday, June 4th, until Saturday, June 7th. It is in the middle of the country, and can be easily reached by car, train or air.

Rooms will cost only $60, plus tax, and include a hot breakfast, through Friday (Saturday LIPTC breakfast is $14). The rooms include ample free parking; as well as complementary movie passes at the theatre next door. Reservations can be made now (573-635-7171 or this 1-800-392-0202 is a local toll free number; Truman Hotel & Conference Center Registration--refer to the Lions LITPC Alternate Site Meeting by Code Name PIN). Go to the bottom right side of the page and click on Book Online.

Jefferson City offers a number of attractions, including a beautiful capitol building, filled with art, including a Thomas Hart Benton mural. Central Dairy offers the very best ice cream, and folks come from miles around to enjoy it. They have a super banana split, and it is a challenge, just to finish it all. So far, only Lion Boyd Engbloom has managed to finish one.

Fulton is a half hour away. It has the world famous Churchill Memorial, a section of the Berlin Wall, and Christopher Wren's 17th century Aldermanbury Church, which was bombed out in London in WWII, and was moved to Fulton brick by brick. An hour away is the Lake of the Ozarks, with 1,500 miles of shoreline, offering a wide range of leisure opportunities, from fishing and boating to shopping and entertainment.

Just north of town is the Katy Trail State Park, with 225 miles of walking (and biking) trail alongside the Missouri River. An hour away is Hermann, with a Rhine German history, offering bed and breakfasts, antiques and wineries. An hour away is the village of Arrow Rock. Much of it has been restored to the "river boat" days. There is a gaming boat in Boonville just45 minutes away. Branson offers a host of top shows and attractions, and Silver Dollar City is Missouri's number one attraction. Missouri is a treasure for Civil War buffs, canoeists, and trout and bass fishermen. St. Louis and Kansas City are full of attractions; zoos, arch, museums, 6 Flags and Worlds of Fun to name just a few.

We will trade all day Thursday and Friday, and Saturday morning after breakfast. A real convenience. there will be a food concession in the trading room for lunch each day. No need to leave the area for lunch. There is a pin if you register before March 15th, a registration pin, a breakfast pin, and the Missouri Club will present a gift pin.

We will have a free barbeque by the pool and hospitality room Wednesday evening, "Mule" Burgers and Game Night on Thursday, and Mexican on Friday.
