LITPC News |
![]() Summer is over and my time of year is hear. I am looking forward to the upcoming swaps and the great fellowship that is always present at each and every one. This is also an exciting time for the LITPC. Our board meeting will be held in Winchester at the Virginia swap on Wednesday, and every pin trading club is entitled to have a representative attend the meeting as an observer. The Sight First II quilt is finished and words can’t describe it. It is 105” square and what a beautiful use of colors and quilting. We will display it on Saturday morning at the Virginia Pin Swap for you to see. The chances on the quilt will also be finished as well as posters and postcards so that you can show the quilt as you are selling these chances. Each pin trading club will be receiving 350 of these chances to sell along with a poster and several postcards. The money collected from the sale of the chances is to be returned to the LITPC Treasurer and will be the official Sight First II project of the LITPC. If the pin trading clubs sell more than the 350 tickets, they may credit this money towards their Sight First II project. Each LITPC Board member will also get 100 tickets to sell. By the way, second prize is $1,000.00 and third prize is $500.00. The seller of the winning ticket for the quilt will be “rewarded” with a crisp $100.00 bill. If you sell too many chances, I will certainly let you know. Our goal of $100,000.00 for Sight First II is going to be achieved without a doubt by the time the Minneapolis convention gets here. Several State pin trading clubs, as well as several individuals, have already started on their projects and I am more convinced that pin traders are the greatest and are putting their money where their mouth is for Sight First II. Pin traders world wide will be very proud of this project, led by the LITPC as a joint effort by every other pin trading club. In talking to the leaders of Campaign Sight First II, they have suggested that we give them a pledge this year of what we are planning to present them at our Breakfast in Minneapolis. In this connection, I would like a letter or e-mail addressed to me from each Club with a realistic amount that your Club is planning to contribute to the LITPC for this project. Remember, for every $1,000.00 that you contribute, your Club gets to name a Melvin Jones Fellow. Just think, by Minneapolis we will have at least 100 new Fellows and Sight First II will be able to save the sight of countless numbers of people. Don’t forget to check our new web site LITPC Web site. A lot of time and effort has gone into getting this up and running, and changes and additions will appear almost weekly. So, put it on your favorites list and check it often. Feature articles are coming soon on many subjects, including one from Lion Bill Hadden of Virginia. If your Club has an order form for pins you are offering for sale to raise money toward your Sight First II goal , the LITPC Web Master will be happy to add it on our site. Pin traders everywhere should want to be a part of this project and hopefully will be in Minneapolis when the check is presented on behalf of the entire pin trading community. One last note. Please fill out the Survey Form also on the LITPC web site. We need your input to determine where we will have our Annual Meeting in 2010. Have a GREAT Fall Season, and I look forward to seeing you at a swap real soon…...Larry
