Past Council Chairman Michael Gutyan of Indiana became a member of the Schererville Indiana Lions Club in 1982. Lion Mike was elected President of the LITPC in 2017 at the LITPC Annual meeting held at the 100 Centennial Lions International Convention in Chicago, IL and will serve a two year term (2017-2019). He served his club as Director and Secretary for multiple terms and was a two term 100% President. For service contributions to his club, Lion Mike was honored to be named Lion of the Year.
In District 25-A, Lion Michael held the offices of Zone Chair, Pin Design Chair, Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer, Vice-Governor and District Governor. He also chaired several District Conventions. District 25-A awarded him a Melvin Jones Fellowship and a W.P. Woods Fellowship.
For the Indiana Lions, PDG Michael served as Chair for three State Conventions, as a member of the Lions Foundation for three years, and as Indiana International Convention Chair. He was elected by the 1991-1992 Council of Governors as State Council Chairman. For these efforts PCC Gutyan received three Presidential Certificates, a Leadership Medal and a Presidential Award Medal.
Lion Michael began attending International Conventions soon after joining the Lions Club. He first experience pin trading in Dallas in 1985. He found the Pin-Traders to be dedicated hard working friendly Lions who liked to have fun. He enjoyed their fellowship was hooked. He has designed personal and club pins, District and State Convention Pins, and several awarding winning Multiple District Pins. He joined the LITPC in 1994 and was a Board Member 2008-2010. He is one of the founders of the Indiana Lions Pin Trading Club and an active member in many State Pin Trading Clubs.
Soon after she was able to procure a coveted pin for him at the International Convention in Denver, Colorado, PCC Michael married Helen and they have been happily attending Lions functions, Conventions and especially Pin Swaps ever since.
