Meet Your Officers
Harry Fulwiler III
Lion Harry Fulwiler, our LITPC Treasurer, is a 41 year member of the Park West Lions Club in Manassas, Virginia. He was one of the founders of that club, and is the only remaining charter member. He has been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship and is a Life Member of his Club. In the pin trading community, Harry has been recognized by the LITPC for
the many contributions he has made to the hobby when he was inducted into the LITPC Hall of
Fame in 2003.
Harry was an early pin trader, having been bitten by the bug in the late sixties. At the time most traders started collecting Multiple District (MD) pins, Harry already had most of the older pins in quantity. He passed many of these pins on to other collectors. His present collection consists of approximately 40,000 pins. He has all of the normally recognized MD pins but continues to search for some of those elusive variations. There's no doubt in our mind that his variation collection is one of the best in the world. He also collects Pin Trader Club Pins as well as all of the pins issued in his home state of Virginia. In addition, Lion Harry enjoys collecting band pins and sets from various clubs such as Hershey, PA and Tichigan Lake, WI.
Lion Harry Fulwiler was one of the founding members of the Pin Traders Club of Virginia (PTCV) and was its first pin chairman. He designed the original set of PTCV pins (civil war wagons), and has continued to design or contribute to the design of most all of the pins issued by the PTCV. He is currently serving as the PTCV Pin Chairman and has been in that capacity for a number of years.
Lion Harry presented the very first pin trading seminar on behalf of the LITPC during the recent 2007 Lions Clubs International Convention in Chicago. The seminar traced the beginning of pin trading up to the present time and was enjoyed by a standing room crowd of rather enthusiastic Lions and guests. To accommodate the many LITPC members who could not be present, Lion Harry and PCC Phil Schrack, our LITPC Web Master, reproduced sufficient copies of a CD that could be distributed world-wide, including each of the multiple district pin trading clubs. In addition to this activity, Lion Harry was the feature of an article in a 2007 issue of the "Lion" magazine in which he explained the many advantages of being involved in this hobby within Lionism.
Harry states that he fully enjoys "playing with his pins" but that his real enjoyment in pin trading is the camaraderie and friendships he has developed with other pin traders over the years.
Lion Harry served in the US Air Force from which he retired in 1975 after 20 years of service. After retirement from the Air Force he became a real estate broker as well as a builder and developer. He later went into the mortgage business from which he retired after a successful twenty year career as a mortgage broker.
He is married to his former high school sweetheart, Jennie, who attends all of the swaps and conventions with him. They have been married 52 years and have two sons and four grandchildren. Three of their grandchildren are attending college and one is still in high school. The Fulwiler's, who are both native Virginians, are now retired and live in a retirement community in Gainesville, Virginia, where they play golf almost daily.
